Faith & Mission

Using the four core aspirations at the heart of our Diocesan vision of ‘changing lives, changing churches for changing communities’ we may capture something of the essence of both our Christian faith and our mission as baptised Christians:
We are continually invited to have faith in God through Jesus Christ: calling
Our hearts and minds are ‘quickened’ by the powerful love of God: renewing
Our world view is enlightened by ‘seeing’ through the ‘eyes’ of the Spirit of God: transforming
We can then be moulded and sent to engage in the mission of God in his world: reshaping.
To have Christian faith is to respond to the divine reality of Father, Son and Holy Spirit by consciously living out our lives on a basis of trust (commitment), learning (discipleship) and loving service (being missional).
Through this faith, as individuals or congregations, we should go on to ask - what is our part in the mission of God to his world?
What form this takes will differ from one individual or congregation to another. Each should ask, “Where does God fit into the story of my life, my church, my community?” and then “How am I being asked to play my part in God’s mission in his world?”
These can be complex questions that require much reflection. We hope the information and resources offered in these pages will give you a starting point for exploration, and more importantly direct you to people, groups or materials which may help you on your journey.
Mission in Bath and Wells is led by a network of six main groups, collectively the Mission Forum.
We would be happy to be contacted at any time to discuss faith and mission issues.
