Combating Poverty Conference. ‘Combating poverty – what are churches and other faith groups doing? What more can they do?’ - how can they work in partnership with other organisations?
Faith groups play a vital role in relieving social hardship. The conference will also take up the effects of the current and planned welfare benefit changes, what can be done to alleviate any hardship resulting from these changes and what can they do to work in partnership with community groups and public bodies. This course is for people involved in, or interested in, interfaith facilitation and dialogue. Flower Festival. Off the A370 near Brockley Stores, is the church of St. Nicholas (BS48 3AX). This little gem is in the care of the Chuches Conservation Trust and is holding an “Open Weekend” on 22nd and 23rd June, when the Church will be specially decorated. Refreshments will be available.
Proceeds will be in aid of the work of the Churches Conservation Trusts work in caring for the Church.

Curry Mallet History Festival. Full details on www.currymallet.org. In 2012 the children at Curry Mallet Primary School produced an excellent booklet about the history of the village. One of the School Governors, who is also a member of the Parochial Church Council, was so inspired by the booklet, she recommended holding a three day history festival to celebrate Curry Mallet’s fascinating history. Exciting events, activities and displays are planned over the course of the three days at different locations in the village.
